Personal electronics recycling event occurring Monday

Physical Facilities is holding a personal electronics recycling event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday (Feb. 26) at the Purdue University Armory in conjunction with Oscar Winski.

Some of the devices that may be recycled at this event include personal cellphones, computer equipment, fax machines, laptops, lithium-ion batteries, printers, radios and other electronics with a cord or battery. A full list of acceptable electronics is provided on the Oscar Winski website. Computer CRT monitors, microwaves and televisions will be taken for a fee.

Items that contain refrigerants, light bulbs, nonrechargeable batteries or alkaline batteries will not be taken at this event. Dehumidifiers, freezers, refrigerators, coolers, PCB ballasts and University-owned property are not acceptable.   

Future electronics recycling events will be held at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 10 at Oscar Winski, 1449 Veterans Memorial Parkway E. in Lafayette, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 31 at Young Hall. Items collected at these three events will be included in Purdue’s totals for the RecycleMania Tournament, which goes through the end of March.
