Human Resources, Purdue Student Health Center partner to offer radiology exams to benefits-eligible faculty, staff

As the University works to better the health and wellness of its population, Human Resources on the West Lafayette campus announces a partnership with Purdue University Student Health Center for radiology services.

Benefits-eligible faculty and staff (including those who opt out of Purdue medical coverage), as well as dependents 8 years and older, can now use the radiology services at PUSH. All individuals coming to PUSH must bring a photo ID and insurance card before X-rays are taken.

“In an effort to continue to add valuable, convenient, cost-effective health and wellness resources to our Purdue employees, the partnership with PUSH for radiology is a perfect addition,” says Candace Shaffer, director of benefits in Human Resources. “Now, our benefits-eligible employees and their dependents have immediate access to these services on campus. We hope this will provide an extra level of comfort to employees should a need for radiology services arise.”

Benefits-eligible employees on a Purdue medical plan will pay a $25 copay, which includes the reading of the exam image, at the time of service. Once an employee’s deductible is met, those covered under the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 1 will pay $5 and those covered under the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 2 and J1-Visa plan will pay $6.25. Employees covered under the Purdue Health Plan (PPO) will pay $25 regardless of deductible status. Payment can be made with a credit card or HSA/FSA card. Benefit-eligible employees who have opted out from a Purdue medical plan will be charged according to their insurance plan.

The radiology department performs general diagnostic X-rays, including exams of the skull, ribs, shoulder, hip, hand, wrist, ankle, foot and more. For a complete list of radiology exams, visit the Purdue Student Health Center web page. All radiology services require an order from a provider. Should an employee have an order for an exam not listed on the Radiology Exams list, call 765-494-1700 for clarification and ask for radiology.

“We are excited for the opportunity to extend our services and upgraded equipment to include Purdue faculty and staff,” says Gail Walenga, director of Purdue University Student Health Center. “We look forward to accommodating as many employees as possible and making sure they receive the best, most convenient service possible.”

PUSH is located on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus at 601 Stadium Mall Drive. Regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. (Note: Saturday hours are during the academic year only.) Patients can walk in when convenient for them during hours of operation.

In addition to radiology services, the laboratory at PUSH also can perform lab work on all staff who have a written order from a provider. Lab services are provided by MidAmerica Clinical Laboratory, the same company that provides lab services at the Center for Healthy Living on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus. MACL is in-network with all major insurance plans, including Purdue’s plans. Services are available during regular business hours.

Questions about radiology or lab services available at PUSH to faculty and staff can be directed to 765-494-1700.
