Butler Center to hold 'Negotiation' workshop
The Butler Center is organizing a workshop titled "Negotiation," which will be conducted by the American Association of University Women.
The main goal of the workshop is to help participants with the following:
* Understanding the gender pay gap and its long-term consequences.
* Knowing their value, or how to identify and articulate personal value.
* Knowing their target salary and benefits, using objective, market-based data.
* Knowing their strategy, and how to develop an arsenal of persuasive responses and other negotiation strategies.
* Practicing and role playing learned negotiation skills.
The three-hour workshop is open to women faculty, staff and all-but-dissertation graduate students. There are three iterations, and the same content will be covered in each workshop session. Each iteration will have 40 seats available. Due to the limited amount of seats, the Butler Center will not be able to accommodate additions after the sessions are full.
Participants will register for a session according to their role at the University:
* Faculty: 9 a.m.-noon Jan. 23
* Staff: 2-5 p.m. Jan. 23
* Graduate student (ABD only): 9 a.m.-noon Jan. 24
