The Challenge 5K aims to raise money for Purdue Center for Cancer Research

The Challenge 5K Run/Walk to raise money for cancer research will take place at 8:30 a.m. April 14 at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Until March 31, students can register for $20 and non-students can register for $25. From April 1 to 12, all participants can register for $30.

The Challenge 5K is an annual event and all of the money raised goes to support cancer research at the Purdue Center for Cancer Research. In total, the race has raised over $715,000 for cancer research at Purdue University. This year, the Challenge 5K aims to raise $60,000.

The Purdue Center for Cancer Research will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2018.

The Challenge’s 2018 sponsors include Purdue Federal Credit Union, Purdue Center for Cancer Research Director’s Advancement Board, IU Health Cancer Centers, Arni’s Restaurant, Purdue Alumni Association, Gold and Black Illustrated, Parkwest Fitness, WLFI and Fleet Feet.

The Healthy Boiler Wellness Incentive Program, which will kick off in January and allow employees to improve their health while earning financial incentives, will include 5Ks such as The Challenge 5K.
