Purdue gears up for Homecoming 2017

Campus will be filled this weekend with many alumni, family, friends and fans of the University, and there are plenty of activities to keep everyone involved in Homecoming.

 

FRIDAY

Free Ride Fridays: The Purdue Reamer Club will continue the tradition of Free Ride Fridays for the 2017 football season. Each Friday before a home football game, the Boilermaker Special will be offering free rides from noon to 3 p.m. in front of Stewart Center on Memorial Mall. Rides will be given about every 15 to 20 minutes, weather permitting. Check   https://www.facebook.com/ReamerClub or https://twitter.com/ReamerClub for updates.

Boiler Bridge Walk: Purdue fans are invited to join the Boilermaker football team as it crosses the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge connecting West Lafayette and Lafayette. Enjoy music and games, grab free giveaways, meet the football team and much more. Activities begin at 5:15 p.m. at the fountain at the west side of the Myers Bridge. The football team arrives around 5:45 p.m.

Free Fall Concert: Simple Plan, a Canadian punk-pop band, will perform at 7-9 p.m. at Slayter Center. This concert is free and open to all. The rain location is Elliott Hall of Music. More details are here.

SATURDAY

BTN Tailgate: The Big Ten Network will be broadcasting “BTN Tailgate” live at 10 a.m.-noon from West Lafayette. The event will take place on the south lawn of Cary Quad and will include prize giveaways, games and entertainment, plus the live taping of the show. The event is free and open to all fans.

Homecoming celebration: Many different activities will take place at 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Stadium Mall. These activities include performances from Purdue Varsity Glee Club and the alumni marching band, as well as the announcement of Homecoming queen and king.

Boilermaker Crossing: Purdue fans can win prizes, play on inflatable games and more at the family-friendly Boilermaker Crossing at 1-3:30 p.m. at Weist Plaza north of Mackey Arena. The event is free.

Team arrival: Welcome the Boilermaker team to campus at the northeast corner of Ross-Ade Stadium. The event will start at 1:40 p.m., and will feature a pep band, giveaways, Purdue Pete and the cheerleaders and the Boilermaker Special. 

Jazz Tailgate: Purdue jazz bands will be performing at 2 p.m. at Slayter Center. The event is free and open to the public.  

Thrill on the Hill: The Purdue “All-American” Marching Band will perform a concert at 2:30 p.m. at Slayter Center, showcasing the entire 380-plus members of the band. The Purdue cheerleaders, Purdue Pete, and Purdue guest celebrities will be in attendance.  

Purdue football vs. Michigan game: The Purdue Boilermakers welcome the Michigan Wolverines for a 4 p.m. kickoff at Ross-Ade Stadium. Football

Volleyball: The Boilermakers take on the Ohio State Buckeyes starting at 8:30 p.m. at Holloway Gymnasium in the Brees Center. Volleyball

An Evening with Pat McAfee: Pat McAfee, comedian and retired punter on the Indianapolis Colts, will perform at 8:30 p.m. at Elliott Hall of Music. More details are here.
