Ongoing work for campus tree care plan this fall

As part of the existing campus tree care plan, arborists in the Physical Facilities Grounds department will be performing routine maintenance by removing and planting trees this fall. The tree care plan was implemented to provide continuous improvement to the campus landscape and to guide the assessment, care and management of trees on the West Lafayette campus.

The Grounds department strives to plant more trees than are removed each year in alignment with the tree care plan in order to add to the nearly 11,000 trees of more than 400 different varieties on campus. As a result, the number of trees in existence and number of unique plantings on campus has increased by approximately 38 percent and 14 percent, respectively, in the past five years.

Questions may be directed to the Grounds department at 765-494-3087.
