Krannert, Discovery Park to livestream Internet of Things symposium

On Tuesday (April 18), the Krannert School of Management will host its “Boilermakers by the Bay: Internet of Things” symposium in San Francisco.  Although the registration for the symposium has reached capacity and is now closed, all interested Purdue alumni, students, friends and corporate partners can still take part by watching a livestream of the event on Facebook.

The symposium is co-sponsored by Discovery Park, Krannert and ClearObject and will feature both academic and industry experts on the Internet of Things (IoT). Attendees and viewers will learn about the role Purdue is playing in the ever-expanding reach of IoT and how companies are innovating and adjusting their business models in the wake of new technologies.

Industry speakers are:

* Brad Surak, chief operating office at GE Digital.
* John Annakin, chief revenue officer at ClearObject.
* Sean Galligan, vice president/industry lead for the technology, media and telecom category at Yahoo.
* Robert Schmid, managing director and chief IoT strategist at Deloitte.

Speakers from Purdue are:

* Ali Shakouri, the Mary Jo and Robert Kirk Director of the Birck Nanotechnology Center in Discovery Park.
* David Hummels, dean of the Krannert School and professor of economics.
* Ananth Iyer, the Susan Bulkeley Butler Chair in Operations Management.
* Karthik Kannan, professor of management and co-director of the Business Information and Analytics Center (BIAC).
