Hiring managers invited to participate in upcoming Purdue career fair

Human Resources will be holding its annual Purdue career fair to promote staff positions, and hiring managers are encouraged to participate. The fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 6 p.m. June 15 at the Niswonger Aviation Technology Building (NISW), 1401 Aviation Drive.

Managers will have the opportunity to conduct on-site interviews at the fair and build a network of candidates. Those hiring managers who would like to take part in the career fair should notify a talent acquisition specialist or sign up at https://purdue.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_efXwjHF2BpDxS0B.

“It’s a positive experience having the opportunity to meet qualified applicants face to face at the start of the recruitment process and an advantage for them to have the support provided at the fair to ask questions, as well as the opportunity to apply and potentially interview all in one day,” says Dave Lucas, interim director of operations and maintenance, Buildings and Grounds. “Our primary source of applicants is now coming through these career/job fairs.”

Amanda Adams, employment success manager in Dining & Catering, sums up the career fair as “an amazing pool of interested candidates.”

“Many had done their research and were looking for information about specific positions, though it was also nice to be able to direct candidates to openings that provided the best fit,” Adams says.

Hiring managers who have attended the fair have indicated that the career fair provides an opportunity to speak with applicants whose resume may not have originally been considered. Discussions with attendees allowed the hiring manager to glean additional information that made it possible for the attendee to fill a vacant position.
