Boiler Share Symposium seeking presentation proposals

Organizers of the second annual Boiler Share Symposium, "One World, One University, All Boilermakers," on May 23 are seeking presentation proposals. The symposium brings together Purdue staff and faculty to tap into local expertise and learn from each other by presenting and/or attending presentations on various topics. Proposals are due Friday (April 28).

During the daylong symposium, campus partners will focus on how Purdue faculty and staff can best help students move the world forward. The symposium will begin with a keynote address and will include presentations by campus partners throughout the day.

Haley Cutler, assistant director of residential academic initiatives in University Residences and co-chair of this year’s Boiler Share Symposium, said, “We look forward to building on the success of last year’s inaugural event of bringing together our faculty and staff to share our talents, knowledge and resources to improve our campus environment for students as one united campus community.”

Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit presentation/workshop proposals that fit this year’s theme. The planning committee anticipates multiple presentation submissions on a variety of topics. Some of the topics they hope to receive that fit this year’s theme are:

* Successful faculty/staff collaborations.

* Who do I call when I need help?

* Crisis Intervention Training.

* Addressing Mental Wellness on Campus.

* Collecting Data to Tell Your Story.

* Suicide Prevention Training.

* SafeZone Training.

* What happens when students violate campus policies.

* Helping students navigate difficult conversations.

* Cross-cultural communication strategies.

* Utilizing Gallup and StrengthsFinder.

* Are your office and marketing materials ADA compliant?

Details on proposal submissions are at 2017 Boiler Share Submission Form. Details on the Boiler Share Symposium are available online.
