West Lafayette campus has lowest employee injury rate in more than 10 years in 2016

In 2016 the West Lafayette campus experienced its lowest injury rate, injuries per 100 employees, in more than 10 years.

The rate, which was 2.6, is calculated using information in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's 300 log and employee hours worked. This is an annual record of employee injuries and illnesses occurring during the calendar year. Radiological and Environmental Management maintains the log as required by OSHA.

The information allows Purdue to determine injury trends and focus efforts on reducing and eliminating future injuries. The information also is used to track progress from year to year and also as a benchmark with other universities.

Department-specific data is available upon request from REM.

The summary for the West Lafayette campus will be posted on the bulletin board in Freehafer Hall and in the REM office in Hampton Hall, Room B173, from Feb. 1 to April 30 and may also be found on REM's website
