Risk Management issues operating procedure for unmanned aircraft systems

Risk Management has released the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operating Procedure to the University system. This procedure applies to all Purdue University-related UAS operations by, but not limited to, faculty, staff, volunteers, clubs, and similar organizations or individuals operating or planning to operate UAS as part of University employment or research activities.

Individuals should use the operating procedure to help guide all purchasing, use and contracting of UAS. Accompanying the operating procedure is Form RM31 -- UAS/Drone Notification Form, which is used to notify Risk Management of UAS owned and operated across the University system. Submitting Form RM31 is required in the operating procedure and is meant to ensure that any applicable insurance coverage is extended to the UAS and its use.

The procedure and Form RM31 can be found here.

Questions should be directed to Austin Oldham at oldhama@purdue.edu.
