Nominations sought for Distinguished Women Scholars award

The Office of the Provost, in partnership with the Butler Center for Leadership Excellence, is accepting nominations for the Seventh Annual Distinguished Women Scholars award to honor alumnae who earned a Purdue doctorate and have made significant scholarly contributions to their respective academic communities.

"By recognizing our academic women of distinction, we also acknowledge and celebrate our faculty’s contributions to mentoring these successful scholars and to Purdue’s commitment to diversifying university faculty across the nation," says Patrice M. Buzzanell, chair and director of the Butler Center. "At the same time, our Distinguished Women Scholars represent the value of Purdue degrees, especially doctorates, over the course of careers. Our recipients are role models to all of our scholars in the making."

The nomination criteria include an earned doctorate from Purdue and distinguished scholarly success within one’s chosen field. Nominations should include a letter of nomination that outlines the nominee's achievements, the nominee's updated curriculum vitae and names of two references who could speak to the nominee's record of distinction. Letters from those references are welcome.

Nominations may be submitted online. The deadline is Feb. 1.

Recipients will be invited to campus to be honored as part of Purdue’s celebration of Women’s History Month. The award presentation and reception will take place 2-4 p.m. March 10 in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118. All are welcome to attend.
