LiveHealth Online offering fast, easy, low-cost online physician visits; incentive to register now

Peak flu season has arrived, bringing with it longer wait times in area doctor's offices and urgent care centers. LiveHealth Online, a new online doctor visit option announced last fall, gives the option to skip traditional office hours, the drive to an appointment and wait time in a waiting room with the risk of exposure to other illnesses, all for a lower cost.

LiveHealth Online can be used anywhere there is a computer or mobile device with a camera and Internet access. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, LiveHealth Online makes it even easier to see a doctor for certain health care needs such as headache, cough, cold, allergies, flu and more.

“LiveHealth Online essentially puts a doctor’s office at employees’ fingertips,” says Candace Shaffer, interim associate director in Benefits. “It’s convenient, easy to use, low-cost and saves time. The option for high-quality, low-cost treatment of common illnesses and promoting good health through technology complements the primary care services provided at the Center for Healthy Living on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus and helps support all Purdue employees to have access when they need it most, anytime, anywhere.”

Services are available to all employees and their dependents regardless of benefits eligibility. For those covered by a Purdue health plan, visits are $49 before benefits are applied. More information on cost by plan can be found here.

As an incentive to sign up for LiveHealth Online, Anthem is running a promotion today (Feb. 15) through March 17 and will be giving away 40 gift cards to randomly selected LiveHealth Online members; anyone who signs up between now and March 17 along with individuals who’ve already registered are eligible.

More information on LiveHealth Online, including how to get started, can be found on the Benefits website.
