Finalists for dean of the College of Science to make on-campus presentations

Five finalists for the Frederick L. Hovde Dean of the College of Science position will be on Purdue's West Lafayette campus for two-day interviews in March and April, the search committee announced today (March 10).

Search committee co-chairs Jay Akridge, the Glenn W. Sample Dean of the College of Agriculture, and Ei-ichi Negishi, the Herbert C. Brown Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, said that as part of the process, finalists will make a 35- to 40-minute public presentation and then take questions from the audience.

“We have five outstanding candidates -- one from Purdue and four from other institutions with excellent reputations,” Akridge says. “I hope faculty, staff and students will take this opportunity to hear from each candidate."

Feedback on the candidates is requested, and the search website contains an online tool for providing feedback. In addition, the full curriculum vitae for each candidate can be found on the site.

Purdue’s next dean of the College of Science will succeed Craig Svensson, interim dean and dean of the College of Pharmacy, who will step down at the end of the academic year in order to transition to full-time faculty duties.
