'Boilermaker Classics' to play on WBAA's 'What's New'

WBAA radio will feature a Boilermaker theme of trains for its upcoming special broadcast of "What’s New" to be aired on Feb. 19 and 21. The broadcast will feature a range of composers from Aaron Copland to Jennifer Higdon, Steve Reich to Heitor Villa-Lobos and Johann Strauss II. All of these composers have created classical works with locomotives in mind.

Hovde is an associate professor of library science and has been at Purdue since 1989. He will share both Purdue traditions and student stories with the audience.

The program, "What’s New," is a two-hour weekly show that consists of new music and new releases with an in-depth look at classical music. Host John Clare speaks with leading musicians and highlights releases. Topics of the program include instruments, artists and variety.

The program airs at 10 p.m. Sundays and repeats at 8 p.m. Tuesdays on 101.3 FM and online at www.WBAA.org.
