Open enrollment begins today; additional details to follow

Benefits open enrollment begins today (Oct. 24) and runs through 6 p.m. EST Nov. 11. A dedicated enrollment website has been created to provide detailed information about benefits enrollment for 2017. All employees are asked to enroll during this open enrollment window.

As an incentive to enroll early, employees who complete their 2017 elections by midnight EST Oct. 28 will be entered in a random drawing to win a Fitbit Flex, courtesy of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Purdue’s medical plan administrator.

Here are the highlights of what employees will see in their enrollment guides, which will be delivered starting today:

* Anthem will become the administrator for the dental plans. Same plan coverage, but with lower premiums.

* All employees are asked to make new dental plan elections. Dental elections will be made separately from the medical plan elections this year, including preventive dental.

* Preventive dental: Addition of full-mouth panoramic X-rays every five years.

* The same three medical plan options will be offered again in 2017.

* Changes will be made to align preventive medications with a more standardized list of drugs in order to ensure ongoing compliance, meaning employees may need to review their preventive medications and consider alternative coverages.

* Exclusion removed related to gender reassignment surgery.

* Expanded treatment option through Anthem’s LiveHealth Online.

Throughout the three-week open enrollment time frame, several tools and resources will be offered to employees to ease them through the process.

Additional information will be provided via Purdue Today, HR Connect, emails and the dedicated enrollment website. A special open enrollment issue of HR Connect and enrollment guides, mailed to campus addresses, will be available this week.

Benefits staff members are committed to providing excellent customer service and resources -- during open enrollment and all year -- to help employees and their families best use these valuable programs.
