Nominations sought for College of Engineering dean position

The Search Advisory Committee for the College of Engineering dean position is inviting nominations both within Purdue and from outside the University. An earned PhD in an engineering or related field is required and the essential qualifications include:

* Preeminent scholar with a rich record of academic achievement.

* Distinguished record of administrative accomplishments, including the recruiting and retention of an excellent and diverse faculty, staff and student body.

* Ability to promote the College of Engineering and attract resources through sponsored programs and private donations.

* Commitment to diversity.

* Demonstrated commitment to the pinnacle of academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

* Ability to develop a clear vision for the future of engineering research and education and to lead faculty, foster interdisciplinary activities, and develop large-scale research programs both within the College of Engineering and between Engineering and other colleges in the University.

* Commitment to the integration of engineering research and entrepreneurship for regional economic growth.

* Evidence of collaboration with industry and private-sector institutions.

* Understanding and appreciation of the broad range of schools and programs in engineering.

Purdue encourages nominations of and applications from candidates who will add to the diversity of the College of Engineering.

Led by committee co-chairs Byron Pipes, the John Leighton Bray Distinguished Professor of Engineering, and Andy Weiner, the Scifres Family Distinguished Professor of Engineering, the Search Advisory Committee will begin screening candidates during the Fall 2016 semester and will continue until the position is filled.
