Huber named interim associate vice provost for faculty affairs

Jessica Huber, professor in Purdue's Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, has been appointed to the position of interim associate vice provost for faculty affairs, beginning Jan. 2.

Huber has served as the 2016-17 provost fellow for faculty affairs working with survey research experts and faculty teams to interpret the COACHE data and formulate recommendations for action. In her new role as interim associate vice provost for faculty affairs, her responsibilities will expand to include faculty appointments, leaves, development and retention.

Huber previously served as a dean's fellow in the College of Health and Human Sciences focusing on issues related to faculty retention, particularly of women and underrepresented minorities. She invented SpeechVive, a device to help people with Parkinson's disease communicate more effectively, and is co-founder of Speech Vive Inc., a startup based on the device. Huber received Purdue's Outstanding Commercialization Award for Faculty in 2014, and the device is now sold in locations around the United States.

She will report directly to Peter Hollenbeck, vice provost for faculty affairs.
