Events next week to celebrate Purdue's Green Week

The West Lafayette campus will be celebrating Green Week (Oct. 24-28) with a variety of free events. Event registration information is included when required.

MONDAY (Oct. 24)

Office Supply Swap. Noon-4 p.m., Purdue Armory
* Open to Purdue faculty, staff and students.
* Registration is required only to reserve table space for a large number of donated supplies (register online).
* "Shop" the office items and bring any unwanted items of your own to contribute (e.g., files, folders, pens, tape, pointers, etc.).
* Leftover supplies will be sent to the Purdue University Surplus Store.

TUESDAY (Oct. 25)

Sustainable Indiana 2016: Region 9 Green Light Awards Ceremony and Reception. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Neil Armstrong Hall, Kurz Atrium.
* Open to the public.
* Event will honor local leaders and organizations that have contributed to a green legacy for Indiana.
* Light refreshments served.

WEDNESDAY (Oct. 26)

Alternative Transportation Expo. 11 a.m.-2 p.m., north end of Memorial Mall.
* Open to the public.
* View a variety of alternative transportation modes, such as electric vehicles, bicycles and hybrids.
* Tesla, Zagster, Zipcar, BMW, Segway and other companies will be showcasing their products.

THURSDAY (Oct. 27)

Documentary Film Screening: "Bikes vs. Cars." 6:30-8:30 p.m. Córdova Recreational Sports Center, Boilermaker Room.
* Open to the public.
* Featuring a post-viewing discussion.
* Hosted by the Purdue Cycling Club.
* Light refreshments served.

Final Farmers Market of the season. 11 a.m.-3 p.m., north end of Memorial Mall.
* Open to the public.

FRIDAY (Oct. 28)

Sixth Annual Green Week Tree Planting volunteer opportunity. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Event tent will be located at the southeast corner of the Harrison Street and Martin Jischke Drive roundabout.
* Registration required (by emailing sustainability@purdue.edu), and all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.
* Volunteers will learn how to properly plant trees from the Physical Facilities Grounds department and then participate in a group planting exercise.
* Lunch will be served at the end of the event.
