Webinar to focus on regional clean energy technology innovation

A webinar hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy focusing on regional clean energy technology innovation, and what role Purdue will play in that future, will be 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 29).

Tomás Díaz de la Rubia, chief scientist and executive director of Discovery Park, will be one of six university presenters. Others include faculty from Arizona State University, the University of New Mexico, the University of Tennessee, the University of Washington and West Virginia University.

"Discovery Park is doing so much to advance clean energy," Díaz de la Rubia says. "One thing is a new initiative to create biofuels for the aviation industry to use and reduce emissions."

He says others include advancing smart grid technology and discovering new, more affordable materials for solar energy.

Díaz de la Rubia says he hopes that a new clean energy innovative center will be positioned in Indiana. Similar centers in different parts of the country focus on what that region can bring to the clean energy discussion.
