Vice provost for enrollment management announces retirement

Pam Horne, vice provost for enrollment management, has announced that she will retire from Purdue on June 30, 2017.

Horne began her career at Purdue in 2006 as assistant vice president for enrollment management and dean of admissions, and became vice provost for enrollment management in May 2015. Horne manages strategy and operations for admissions, financial aid, early college outreach, the registrar, and enrollment analysis and reporting.

"Pam’s leadership has led to the increasing of Purdue’s undergraduate applications by over 100 percent during her tenure, and EM has met or exceeded campus enrollment goals each year, including targeted residency mix and increasing diversity," says Deba Dutta, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity. "Retention and graduation rates have steadily risen during Pam's tenure, and she also has helped the University meet its mission and enrollment goals by creating new scholarship programs such as Purdue Promise and the Trustees, Presidential and Emerging Urban Leader scholarships."

In addition, Horne served as the process owner providing leadership for the on-time, under-budget implementation of Banner and related student systems, along with numerous continued improvements and enhancements since 2008. Horne also is serving as chair of the 2016 Purdue United Way Campaign and has served on many University task forces and committees.

Horne’s contributions extend beyond Purdue. She has served the state with her membership on the Advanced Placement Advisory Committee of the Board of Education and the High School Diploma Task Force. Horne presents frequently at state, regional, and national meetings and has served as a trustee on the College Board and numerous College Board committees and advisory groups. She is a founding member of the AAU Chief Enrollment Officers and has served as president of the Chief Admission Officers of Public Universities.

Horne's almost 43-year career in higher education also has included positions at Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University and the University of Kansas.

A national search will begin soon to fill the vice provost for enrollment management position, Dutta says.
