Upcoming workshop will focus on addressing grief

Human Resources will host a family-friendly workshop to discuss grief and coping from noon to 1 p.m. Aug. 5 in Stewart Center, Room 311.

The "Coping with Grief" workshop will help attendees recognize the symptoms of grief as well as recognize when to seek help. Grief can leave us feeling hopeless, pessimistic and alone. Some lifestyle strategies to help may include staying connected with family and friends, and engaging in healthy behaviors such as exercise, avoiding alcohol and getting adequate sleep. Nancy Cook, employee assistance counselor at the Center for Healthy Living, will present this workshop.

Registration is available online and is due Aug. 4. Limited seats are available; however, as a response to feedback, Human Resources is pleased to make this and future presentations available in WebEx. Those attending via WebEx should enter "familyfriendly" if prompted for a password when joining the meeting.

The family workshops are open to faculty, staff, students and spouses/same-sex domestic partners. Those attending are encouraged to bring lunch to eat while listening to the presentation. Time for asking questions and networking with other parents and caregivers will be offered.
