United Way pledge packets being mailed to retirees, Vanguards to gear up 2016 campaign

As part of pacesetter efforts this year, Purdue's retirees, Vanguard donors and potential Vanguard donors will receive mailed pledge packets at their home addresses for the 2016 United Way of Greater Lafayette Campaign.

Vanguard donors are those who have previously donated $1,000 or more per household per year to United Way. Vanguards' donations ensure that 100 percent of all other donations directly benefit the 21 United Way participating organizations and other United Way programs, which serve children, adults and families in Tippecanoe and many surrounding counties.

Pam Horne, chair of Purdue's 2016 United Way campaign and vice provost for enrollment management, says, "I'm honored and thrilled to be a part of this year's United Way campaign. Serving as chair brings another level of excitement to the campaign for me, and I hope my enthusiasm and support of this great community service will inspire others to get involved this year as well. Purdue's contributions to date to the United Way of Greater Lafayette are immeasurable and help ensure many of our community's needs are met. Contributions of any size are greatly appreciated."

The Purdue United Way Campaign's theme this year is "We're all United Way people." Purdue's campaign will kick off on Sept. 1 and will run through Nov. 16. Purdue's campaign goal is $760,000. Willie Reed, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, is the vice chair.
