Patent workshop set for Thursday

Purdue University Libraries will host a workshop focused on "Patent Basics: What Every Inventor Should Know" in two sessions from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 15) in the Hall for Discovery and Learning Research, Room 131.

The first session is for beginners and starts at 10:30. It will cover patent basics and information for filing provisional patent applications. People invited include undergraduates, independent inventors and people who are just getting started.

The second session starting at 1 p.m. is for experts and will cover the more complicated issues of patentability and commercialization, including discussion of biological and pharmaceutical patents, international patents and more. Faculty, researchers and entrepreneurship professionals are invited to this session.

This event is supported by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Purdue Libraries and the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship.
