New tool, process introduced to stimulate exit interview participation among employees

Human Resources is announcing the completion of a new exit interview process and tool, which is available for use for staff on the West Lafayette campus.

The goal is to increase the number of staff (clerical/service, administrative/professional and management) campus-wide who take part in an exit interview before their departure from their position on campus. The new user-friendly Qualtrics survey tool will be an integral part of motivating employees to do so.

Human Resources encourages all supervisors and staff to initiate an exit interview at the time the staff member gives notice that he or she is departing. Data acquired from exit interviews is a driving force for acknowledging areas of excellence as well as identifying areas that need improvement. Information regarding employee morale, work culture, concerns, processes, management style and more about an employee's work experience can easily be captured via the exit interview survey. Currently there is very little data available.

All data obtained will be used to identify trends, recognize areas exceeding expectations and provide anonymous feedback to improve the work environment, culture and Purdue overall. Responses will not be entered into the employee's personnel file and will not affect future references or prospects for returning to campus.

Any questions about the exit interview process or tool or to schedule an exit interview for Student Life and Physical Facilities should be directed to Human Resources at 49-41421. The remainder of campus should contact the central Employee Relations office at 49-41679. Supervisors and employees also can email hrexit@purdue.edu for assistance or to begin the exit interview process.
