Healthy eating to be focus of upcoming workshop

Human Resources will host a family-friendly workshop to discuss good foundations for a healthy lifestyle from noon to 1 p.m. June 16 in Stewart Center, Room 311.

The "Food Labels/Portion Distortion" workshop will enlighten participants about healthy eating as a way of life. Attendees will discuss how fueling the body with nutritious foods is important for feeling good. Other topics of discussion will include portion control, documenting eating habits and using the Healthy Eating Plate as a guide. Ellen Welch, registered dietitian at the Center for Healthy Living, will present this workshop.

Registration is available online and is due June 15. Limited seats are available; however, as a response to feedback, Human Resources is pleased to make this and future presentations available in WebEx. Those attending via WebEx should enter "familyfriendly" if prompted for a password when joining the meeting.

The family workshops are open to faculty, staff, students and spouses/same-sex domestic partners. Those attending are encouraged to bring lunch to eat while listening to the presentation. Time for asking questions and networking with other parents and caregivers will be offered.
