CMD teams to present project recommendations

The 2016 graduating class of the Council for Manager Development is scheduled to present results and recommendations of its project work from 10 a.m. to noon April 21 in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. Interested Purdue faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend.

Presentation topics are:

* "Passport to Healthy Living": The goal of this project is to incorporate technology in the workforce to improve quality of life. This project sought to use digital badging in an innovative context to motivate employees to engage in wellness activities and increase the employee penetration of the Center for Healthy Living. The project supported three key Human Resources initiatives surrounding health care strategy, employee engagement and employee motivation and rewards. Project sponsors are Trent Klingerman, vice president for human resources, and Eva Nodine, director of benefits. Team members are Abby Class, Jefferson Howells, Lyle Janney, Aimee Kappes-Armstrong, Jason Kutch and Abby Snodgrass.

* "Space Request Tracking System": The goal of this project was to create a process for requesting space at Purdue by using a standard form available on the space management website. The new process reduces wait time, eliminates wasteful tasks and provides staff with key metrics to evaluate space requests. This project enabled the successful implementation of the new space request system by working with various offices across campuses and project sponsor Mike Cline, vice president for physical facilities. Team members are Pat Brown, Bethany Butson, Krista Hixson, Andrew McManus, Preston Smith, Amber Thompson and Ben Wiles.

* "Supervisor Springboard: Training and Development for Purdue Supervisors": The goal of this project is to create a complete and robust supervisor training and development program for supervisors on the West Lafayette campus in response to feedback received from the Quality of Work Environment Initiative survey, also known as the engagement survey. This will be achieved by analyzing survey results, identifying themes that emerged within those results pertaining to supervisors, detecting existing training offerings and resources on campus, developing a curriculum to address the needs, and piloting the introductory curriculum during the spring of 2016. The Supervisor Springboard program will equip supervisors with essential tools and knowledge that supports, facilitates, and appreciates employee work effort, goals and achievements. The program can also create a talent pool for upcoming supervisor position openings. Project sponsors are Trent Klingerman, vice president for human resources; Pamela Nesbitt, director of academic human resources; and Kevin Vedder, senior director of organizational effectiveness. Team members are Emily Blue, Daniel Hlavek, Ben Kewman, Blaine Miller, Nicole Noel, Jackie Perkins and Dee Schlatter.
