Workshop to focus on tracking, understanding children's development

Human Resources will host a family-friendly workshop on child development from noon to 1 p.m. Friday (Feb. 26) in Stewart Center, Room 204.

"What Begins Well, Ends Well" will provide attendees with information on development standards and understanding of their fundamental role in supporting their child's holistic development. This workshop will be presented by Katherine Toro-Masso from The Child Care Resource Network.

Participants will learn how to keep track of children's development and increase their capacity to respond to a child's needs, while remembering that children develop at their own pace. The facilitator will present existing resources and services in the local community for the early detection of, intervention for and support of children with special needs.

Registration is available online and is due Thursday (Feb. 25). Limited seats are available.

Family workshops are open to faculty, staff, students and spouses/same-sex domestic partners. Those attending are encouraged to bring lunch to eat while listening to the presentation. Time for asking questions and networking with other parents and caregivers will be offered.
