Workshop to focus on breastfeeding options upon mother's return to work

November 6, 2015

Human Resources will host a family-friendly workshop to discuss breastfeeding options for the working family from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 10) in Stewart Center, Room 311.

"Breastfeeding Options for the Working Family" will provide information about all the options available for continued breastfeeding once the mother has returned to work. Return to work means a change in routine, and the workshop will provide useful information to help everyone continue to feel healthy and successful. This workshop will be presented by Jennifer Leaird, lactation consultant in the Mother Baby Unit at Indiana University Health Arnett. The workshop is geared for those who are currently breastfeeding and have recently returned to work as well as those who are preparing to breastfeed once the baby is born. Family members are encouraged to attend as their supporting roles will be discussed as well.

The family workshops are open to faculty, staff, students and spouses/same-sex domestic partners. Those attending are encouraged to bring lunch to eat while listening to the presentation. Time for asking questions and networking will be offered.

Registration is due Monday (Nov. 9). Limited seats are available. Individuals with a Purdue career account can register online for this workshop, while those without a career account can email familyfriendly@purdue.edu to register.

As an additional resource, information on Purdue's Lactation Support Program is available on the Human Resources Family Friendly website. For news and information on local family-friendly happenings, visit the Family Friendly Purdue Facebook page.
