Purdue United Way Campaign needs pledges soon to make goal

November 6, 2015

Purdue's 2015 United Way campaign is looking for a rush in participation to help it reach its goal of $760,000. Purdue campaign leaders hope to reach this year's goal by Tuesday (Nov. 10), but donations toward the 2015 campaign will be accepted through 4 p.m. Nov. 19. The campaign still needs $144,000 to reach its goal by the celebration event on Nov. 19.

Faculty and staff who return their pledge cards the week of Nov. 9-13 will have the opportunity to take their photo with Purdue Pete. Those faculty and staff can come to the Dauch Alumni Center from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 18 to take a "selfie" or group photo with Purdue Pete and the Boilermaker Special. Photos will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

"Purdue, as it has in the past, has been incredibly supportive of this year's campaign," says Julie Griffith, Purdue United Way Campaign chair and vice president for public affairs. "We're fast approaching our deadline and I am truly encouraged by the outpouring of support from the entire campus community. Our United Way volunteers have really outdone themselves and have been so creative in finding ways to support the campaign that they deserve a special thanks. I am grateful for every dollar or volunteer hour contributed and am convinced that once again -- with the help of faculty, students and staff -- Purdue will lead the way in making our community even stronger."

Faculty and staff may contribute to Purdue's campaign by indicating an amount on a pledge card and choosing among several methods -- payroll deduction, one-time direct donation, or quarterly, monthly or one-time billing. Faculty and staff in need of a pledge card may pick one up at Dauch Alumni Center or print one at www.purdue.edu/unitedway/pledgeforms.html.

Donations also may be made via credit card by visiting www.uwlafayette.org/givenow-purdue.html.

Employees may designate that their donation go toward one or more of the 22 agencies helped by the United Way of Greater Lafayette or to one of the community initiatives of the United Way. For more information about the United Way campaign, view this video.
