November 12, 2015

Purdue officials have announced that Jerry Ross from Syracuse University will be the new university registrar, effective Jan. 1.

"Jerry Ross brings extensive experience in management, public policy, systems implementation, instruction and academic administration to the West Lafayette campus and the Purdue system," says Pamela Horne, vice provost for enrollment management. "His diverse experience will be a tremendous asset in leading the office to even higher levels of excellence."

Most recently, Ross has served as university registrar at Syracuse, where he is responsible for overseeing academic records, registration, catalog, and student systems implementations. Prior to the position at Syracuse, Ross served as associate registrar at West Virginia University from 2011 to 2014 and as assistant dean for student affairs in the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Southern Mississippi from 2007 to 2011. Ross also served as an instructor at West Virginia University, the University of Southern Mississippi and Northern Virginia Community College. Earlier in his career, Ross worked on Capitol Hill and in government affairs for several nonprofit organizations.

Ross earned his bachelor's degree in history, master's degree in political science and doctorate of education from the University of Southern Mississippi in educational leadership and research.
