Purdue employees reminded to register for online W-2 access as tax season approaches

December 11, 2015

In anticipation of the upcoming tax season, Purdue employees are encouraged to register for online W-2 access.

When registering, employees are able to elect to receive only an electronic ("paperless") copy of their W-2 form or to continue to receive a paper copy via mail. Faculty or staff who have previously registered are not required to register again. In order to be effective for the 2015 tax year, registration must be completed by Dec. 31.

Electronic copies of 2015 W-2 forms will be available online about Jan. 20. Paper copies will be postmarked by Jan. 29.

By opting in to online W-2 services, employees:

* Gain access to their W-2 up to 10 business days earlier than mail delivery recipients.

* May access and print their W-2 at their discretion.

* Have a central online location where up to three previous years of their Purdue W-2 forms will be stored and accessible, beginning with the first year registered.

* Can quickly and easily access their tax information at any time without need to contact the University.

Those who register for the online service and opt to receive only an electronic copy also avoid the waiting period, security concerns and complications of mail delivery (such as lost or incorrectly addressed W-2s).
