Open enrollment deadline approaching; enroll by Friday

November 11, 2015

Faculty and staff who have not yet enrolled for their 2016 benefits only have three days left to do so. Enrollment ends at 6 p.m. ET Friday (Nov. 13). No changes to benefit plans will be accepted after that date. Human Resources encourages employees to enroll now and keep a copy of the enrollment summary page for their records. Those who have already enrolled can review their elections and make any changes up to 6 p.m. Friday. Employees who make changes should be sure to re-submit their enrollment.

The dedicated website for open enrollment 2016 provides all the need-to-know information for faculty and staff to ensure they make the best selections for themselves and their families. From the website, faculty and staff can access not only the specific how-to's of open enrollment but also medical and prescription information as well to help them select coverage best-suited to their needs.

Those who prefer face-to-face opportunities to discuss their plan selection still have the opportunity to do so. Walk-in labs are still available for hands-on assistance through Friday. The schedule is:

* Today (Nov.11) -- 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Stanley Coulter Hall, Room 179  and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Freehafer Hall, Room 1-5.

* Thursday (Nov. 12) -- 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Freehafer Hall, Room 1-5.

* Friday (Nov. 13) -- 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Freehafer Hall, Room 1-5. (This is the last opportunity before enrollment ends for assistance.)

Human Resources can be contacted at 49-42222, hr@purdue.edu or www.purdue.edu/HRHelp for additional assistance if needed. Faculty and staff at Calumet, Fort Wayne and North Central campuses may contact their campus HR office for assistance.

Remember, employees who do not enroll for 2016 benefits will have default options applied to their coverage for 2016. Here's what will happen:

* Employees will have the same medical plan in 2016 as they've had for 2015. If they're currently opted out of Purdue medical coverage, they'll have no Purdue medical insurance in 2016.

* If they're in the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 1 or the Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 2, they'll receive the appropriate University contribution to their HSA, but they will not have any contributions of their own. However, they will be able to begin future HSA contributions of their own at any time during 2016 by making a change through EBenefits.

* Any family members they're covering on their medical plan in 2015 will continue to be covered in 2016, if they still meet eligibility requirements.

* The employee and his or her spouse/same-sex domestic partner will each be charged the $500 annual tobacco-user additional premium, if covered on a Purdue medical plan.

* If the employee is enrolled in a dental plan for 2015, his or her plan will not roll forward to 2016. Employee's 2016 coverage will be limited to the preventive dental benefit.

* The employee will have no contributions to a flexible spending account (including health care, dependent day care and limited purpose FSAs).

* Other 2015 benefits will roll forward to 2016.

Human Resources encourages employees to enroll today to ensure they have the appropriate coverage for 2016 for themselves and their families.
