New website highlights campus-wide lectures, guest speakers

October 6, 2015

A new website developed by the Office of the Provost and Information Technology at Purdue is providing the campus community with a one-stop, easy-to-use source for staying up to date on lectures taking place across the West Lafayette campus.

The website at www.purdue.edu/guestspeakers offers a calendar of lectures by on-campus and guest speakers across disciplines and colleges. The site also provides a listing of past lectures with video where available.

"From experts on energy policy and sustainability to nanotechnology researchers to political and business strategists, Purdue offers a wealth of speakers for faculty, staff and students to enjoy nearly every day of the week," says Provost Deba Dutta. "The ITaP team has created an elegant, easy-to-navigate site that faculty, staff and students can simply bookmark to keep up on who is speaking on campus. I hope the Purdue community will help populate it and use it as a new resource for promoting collaboration across disciplines."

The new website pulls information from Purdue's University Calendar. Events that are included under the category "Lectures and Guest Speakers" in the University Calendar will appear on the new site.

Those who would like their events to appear on the Lectures and Guest Speakers site can either use the "Add an Event" link on the new site or start at the University Calendar site. Instructions on how to have a lecture or speaker listed or to upload a video are available on the Lectures and Guest Speakers site.

Events must be sponsored by a Purdue administrative or academic unit or a student organization registered through the Office of Student Activities.
