October 26, 2015

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion has begun organizing activities in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

Jeffrey Roberts, dean of the College of Science, and Renee Thomas, director of the Black Cultural Center, are co-chairing the MLK committee at Purdue West Lafayette. The committee, composed of faculty, staff, students and community members, will plan a series of events in celebration of the holiday, including a day of service on Jan. 18, which is the holiday, and a keynote lecture on Jan. 19.

"Since 1994, the MLK holiday has been an opportunity for volunteer service to make a difference in our communities," says Venetria Patton, provost fellow for diversity and inclusion.  "We encourage the entire campus community to participate in one or more of these upcoming events as we ask with Dr. King, 'What are you doing for others?'"
