Healthy Boiler Committee created, seeking focus group participation

November 16, 2015

Human Resources and Student Life have teamed up in an effort to improve all aspects of the University’s on-campus health care resources for students, faculty and staff. Through the Healthy Boiler initiative, a comprehensive review of services at both the Center for Healthy Living (CHL) and Purdue University Student Health (PUSH) will take place.

As part of the initiative, the Healthy Boiler Committee has been formed by the University and is ready to begin reviewing the scope of services at the CHL and PUSH and determining whether there is potential to integrate and/or share services.

The newly formed group held its first meeting Wednesday (Nov. 11). The group includes faculty health experts and representatives from across campus including the University Senate, APSAC and CSSAC.

The Healthy Boiler Committee is looking for individuals interested in participating in focus groups. The focus groups will be used to gather feedback from University employees and students regarding their thoughts, suggestions, concerns and questions about the on-campus health care sites.

Focus groups for faculty and staff will take place at Purdue Memorial Union, Room 263 AB, on the following dates:

* Wednesday (Nov. 18). 9-10 a.m.

* Friday (Nov. 20). 9-10 a.m.

Anyone interested in participating is asked to email healthyboiler@purdue.edu by noon the day before the focus group session. Twenty participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis for each session. Those replying should include the date and time of the session they are interested in attending in the subject line.

All those who express interest in participating will receive a follow-up email alerting them whether or not they have been selected to participate. These sessions are the first round of focus groups for this initiative. Faculty and staff will have additional opportunity to provide comments and suggestions.

The focus groups will be moderated by a third-party vendor.

In addition to the special email address, a Healthy Boiler website has been created and can be accessed from both the Center for Healthy Living and the Purdue University Student Health websites.
