Family-friendly activities planned for Homecoming

Campus will be filled this weekend with many alumni, family, friends and fans of the University and there are plenty of activities to keep everyone involved in Homecoming.

FRIDAY

Swimming and diving (men and women): Purdue's powerful aquatic arsenal invites Iowa at 5 p.m. at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

Homecoming Parade: Celebrate homecoming at the Boilermaker Night Train Parade beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Pierce and State streets. The route will continue west on State Street, north on Martin Jischke Drive and east on Third Street before turning north on University Street, ending at Mackey Arena. The parade will highlight this year's theme, "Bundle Up Boilers," as well as feature walking units, vehicles and floats by student organizations and local businesses.

SATURDAY

Boilermaker Crossing: Purdue fans can meet the team, participate in interactive activities, play on inflatable games and more at 9-11:30 a.m. at Sally and Bob Weist Plaza between Mackey Arena and the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility's Holloway Gymnasium side. This event is family-friendly and free.

211° Session: Join the football team and "All-American" Marching Band at 9:49 a.m. in Mackey Arena.

Family-friendly Homecoming celebration: Family fun activities will be 9 a.m.-noon between Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering and Schleman Hall on Stadium Mall. Activities include performances on the main stage by Purdue University Dance Marathon, Purdue Reamer Club and Varsity Glee Club. More information can be found here.

Homecoming King and Queen crowning ceremony: See who wins king and queen at 10:45 a.m. on the main stage on Stadium Mall at the Homecoming Celebration.

Purdue vs. Illinois: It's Homecoming and it's Illinois. It's a day for pride, and we can hope for a victory, too. Kickoff is at noon in Ross-Ade Stadium.

SUNDAY

Basketball (men and women): Each has an exhibition game. The women take on Marian at noon, and the men welcome Northwestern Ohio at 5 p.m., both in Mackey Arena.
