Digital Education celebrating National Distance Learning Week

November 10, 2015

Purdue's Digital Education (DE) is celebrating National Distance Learning Week this week by facilitating distance learning conversations among members of the Purdue community.

In short videos, students, faculty members, advisors, instructional designers and program coordinators will share their thoughts about taking online courses, designing and teaching online courses, advising students on distance courses, and using some Purdue software tools in their online courses. The video are available on the Purdue NDLW website.

Purdue is very active in distance learning, says Maricel Lawrence, associate director of digital education.

"Over half of Purdue's most recent graduates have taken at least one course online; over a third have taken two or more," Lawrence says. "This fall, DE is supporting over 40 online undergraduate courses that we have helped faculty develop, serving over 3,200 students. We are also assisting 24 graduate programs and courses with over 9,000 enrollments."

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to share their own experiences with distance education through Twitter and Facebook. Participants will be eligible for a drawing for Purdue-branded items.
