Upcoming workshop to focus on managing the first week of breastfeeding

July 16, 2015

Human Resources will host a family-friendly workshop to discuss how parents can best manage the first weeks of breastfeeding. The workshop is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Monday (July 20) in Stewart Center, Room 311. Registration is due Friday (July 17). Limited seats are available.

The "Managing the First Week of Lactation" workshop is an opportunity for anyone raising or supporting someone in raising a child to gather information on what to expect during the first week after childbirth. Attendees will learn how to understand baby's behavior during the first week and identify common breastfeeding challenges. The workshop, presented by Azza Ahmed, associate professor in Purdue's School of Nursing, also will discuss strategies for establishing a successful and satisfactory breastfeeding relationship.

The family workshops are open to faculty, staff, students and spouses/same-sex domestic partners. Those attending are encouraged to bring lunch to eat while listening to the presentation. Time for asking questions and networking with other parents and caregivers will be offered.

To register for this workshop, call 49-60312 or email familyfriendly@purdue.edu. Additional information on local family-friendly happenings is available on the Family Friendly Purdue Facebook page
