Purdue's United Way campaign begins Live United Week today

September 21, 2015

Purdue's United Way campaign is hosting Live United Week today through Friday (Sept. 21-25) to give faculty, staff and students a chance to get involved in this year's campaign.

Live United Week will have activities and special events, including a new initiative with Purdue Dining & Catering. Students, faculty, staff and guests at 18 participating retail dining locations across campus can participate by donating a $1 or more to the campaign. All payment methods will be accepted.

Interested individuals can get involved during the week at the daily activities on and around campus. The events are:

* Today (Sept. 21) -- Participants are asked to spread the word about the United Way mission in their area on campus by hanging up "What a dollar a week can do" posters. The poster can be downloaded here.

* Tuesday (Sept. 22) -- "Zumbathon at the Co-Rec": The event will take place at 6:30-8 p.m. at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center in the Feature Gym. All proceeds go to the Purdue United Way Campaign.

* Wednesday (Sept. 23) -- United Way Agency Tour: Two 30-minute tours of the Lafayette Transitional Housing Center will be conducted for participants to learn about the housing center’s mission. Tour times are 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Transportation to and from Purdue is not provided; however, parking is available on site at the agency’s facility. To sign up, visit https://www.eventbrite.com/d/local/charity-and-causes--events/.
