Purdue to host sixth annual Conference for Pre-Tenure Women

August 13, 2015

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence in collaboration with the Office of the Provost will hold the sixth annual Conference for Pre-Tenure Women on Sept. 24-25.

Since 2010, the conference has helped women in higher education from Purdue and other national institutions not only achieve promotion and tenure but also develop career strategies and networks useful for moving into further promotions and into different academic areas. Although this conference focuses on women in pre-tenure and postdoc phases, the strategies and insights offered by speakers and other participants are useful for women at different points in their academic careers. Men are welcome to participate.

Keynote presentations will be made by:

* Donna Riley, professor of engineering education at Virginia Tech, on "Redeeming Risk."

* Karen Kelsky, founder of The Professor Is In, a blog and business dedicated to helping Ph.D.s master the academic and post-academic job markets, and a former tenured cultural anthropologist and department head, on "Self-Promotion for Women Academics."

Registration may be completed here. Cost for the conference:

* General registration by Sept. 1: $175
* General registration after Sept. 1: $225
* Purdue graduate students and postdocs registration on or before Sept. 1: $50
* Purdue graduate students and postdocs registration after Sept. 1: $100

Pre-tenure faculty at Purdue should email the Butler Center at butlercenter@purdue.edu for special pricing.
