Music, picnic fare to enliven evenings at the Union

July 6, 2015

Starting this week, Wednesdays in July will renew a Purdue summertime tradition of satisfying food, free live music, and pleasant surroundings at Purdue Memorial Union.

This year's Summer Concert Series, organized in conjunction with the Purdue Student Union Board, will take place on the Union's front lawn unless rain forces an event inside. Food sales will be offered at 5-6:30 p.m. on July 8, 15, 22 and 29, and popular performers from this area and beyond will follow. Tables and chairs will be set up, but guests are welcome to bring chairs and/or blankets. Guests are welcome to eat, or listen, or do both.

The menu on all four Wednesdays will feature a choice of four favorites fresh from the grill -- marinated chicken breast ($4.50), veggie patty ($4.50), hamburger/cheeseburger ($4.25), and all-beef hot dog with bun ($3.50). Sides will be fresh fruit salad ($2), macaroni and cheese ($2), baked beans ($1.50) and chips ($1.50); assorted cookies are $1. Soft drinks and water will be sold for $1.75. A combo of one grill item, two sides and one bottle of a soft drink or water will be $8. Pappy's ice cream will be sold separately.
