Center for Healthy Living to have presence at upcoming Purdue Farmers Market

August 17, 2015

Ellen Welch, registered dietitian at the Center for Healthy Living, will be at the Purdue Farmers Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 20) to help people learn more about the benefits of purchasing from a farmers market. The Purdue Farmers Market is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays on Memorial Mall.

"The Center for Healthy Living supports the farmers market concept as a great place to find fresh, nutritious, delicious and locally grown fruits and vegetables," Welch says. "I will be providing information on the benefits of shopping at a farmers market, harvest calendars to help customers select what produce is in season and recipe ideas. I will also be available for any nutrition-related questions."

In an effort to popularize healthy eating and work with local small businesses, the Purdue Farmers Market offers a wide selection of locally grown produce, flowers and locally prepared lunches.
