Upcoming workshop to focus on parenting advice

June 18, 2015

Human Resources will host a family-friendly workshop to discuss tips on making the journey of parenting successful. The workshop will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday (June 23) in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 263AB. Registration is due Monday (June 21). Limited seats are available.

"The Parenting Journey" workshop is an opportunity for anyone raising or supporting someone in raising a child to discuss steps that can be taken to ensure that both parents and children stay on track. Discussion topics will include the best way to take care of yourself; how to show love through words, actions and listening; keeping expectations realistic; enjoying learning with your child(ren), learning from mistakes; and enjoying your time together. The workshop, presented by Kathy Murray from Purdue Extension, also will present information on how to handle surprises, get through challenging situations and not lose focus.

The family workshops are open to faculty, staff, students and spouses/same-sex domestic partners. Those attending are encouraged to bring lunch to eat while listening to the presentation. Time for asking questions and networking with other parents and caregivers will be offered.

To register for this workshop, call 49-60312 or email familyfriendly@purdue.edu.
