Search underway for new dean of students

May 6, 2015

A search is underway to identify candidates to serve as Purdue's new dean of students.

A search committee formed in April is looking for a successor to Tony Hawkins, who will retire as interim dean on May 8. Jim Hintz, director of Purdue student leadership initiative, will serve as interim dean of students until a permanent dean is named.

Mike Brzezinski, dean of international programs, is chairing the search committee, which is currently reviewing resumes with the plan to conduct interviews in May. Other members of the search committee are:

* Heather Servaty-Seib, associate professor of educational studies.
* Lowell Kane, director of Purdue's Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer Center.
* Monica Soto-Bloom, director of the Office of Institutional Equity.
* Carol Shelby, senior director for environmental health and public safety.
* Annette Brown, diversity outreach project manager in the Division of Diversity and Inclusion.
* Barb Frazee, executive director of University Residences.
* Renner Winston, student representative from the College of Technology.

More information will become available when candidates are on campus. Faculty and staff will be invited to forums to meet the candidates and provide feedback.
