Provost to speak on leadership in APSAC's Lovell series

Provost Deba Dutta will speak April 30 on his own experience and understanding of higher education during a Lovell Leadership Series event hosted by APSAC.

Dutta, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs since July, will talk on "Leadership in Higher Education: The View from the Provost's Seat." The talk will be 2-4 p.m. in Pfendler Hall, Deans Auditorium (Room 241). Registration is required for attendance in person, and live streaming will be available.

APSAC, the Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee, offers events annually in the Lovell series through the APSAC Professional Development Subcommittee.

In his talk, Dutta is expected to address topics such as these:

* Personal introduction, experience, and perspective on higher education.
* General principles of leadership and collaborative pathways to success.
* Recommendations on effecting change at the modern university.
* Specific actions items that can be taken into practice.

The Lovell Leadership Series was established in 2010 by the late C.W. "Bill" Lovell, professor of civil engineering for 45 years, who after retiring in 1993 took an active role as a FranklinCovey facilitator in Human Resources and promoted learning of leadership skills among Purdue staff members.
