Technology upgrade effective April 6 simplifies Employee Self Service (ESS) leave tool

March 30, 2015

A technology upgrade to the Employee Self Service (ESS) leave tool currently used by some exempt employees at all campuses will be available April 6. The upgrade simplifies leave requests and approvals and offers enhanced reporting for exempt employees and supervisors. The ESS upgrade is separate from and not dependent upon any leaves policy changes.

Areas that are using ESS for recording and approving leaves can continue to use it without interruption. Users will notice updated screens and functionality. The changes are intuitive and can be used with little to no training.

The online ESS leave tool is available for use by all exempt staff, including academic year (AY) faculty. The tool is now more user-friendly and can be used by AY faculty for recording sick leave and personal business days during their regularly scheduled work times.

Showcases to demonstrate the tool and changes are available to employees, supervisors and business office staff who wish to attend. Showcases will take place:

* Friday (April 3). 2-3 p.m. Matthews Hall, Room 210.
* April 7 (T). 8:30-9:30 a.m. Lawson Computer Science Building, Room 1142.
* April 15 (W). 9-10 a.m. Hicks Undergraduate Library, Room B853.

Register online for any of the showcases.

Departments that are interested in a demonstration of the automated tool or have specific questions about the upgrade should contact Tammy Synesael at 49-41691 or tammy@purdue.edu. Employees who need assistance with the tool can also contact Synesael.
