Purdue spring break busy one for Daniels: To testify before Congress and keynote higher ed conference in D.C.

President Mitch Daniels will appear on Tuesday (March 17) before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Training, testifying about the public's decreasing confidence in higher education and how Purdue is leading by example to restore it.

Also next week in Washington, D.C., Daniels will speak to the American Council on Education (ACE) annual meeting and at national think tank The Brookings Institution, as well as take part in the Aspen Institute Community College Excellence Prize winner announcement ceremony, for which he was co-chair of the prize jury.

Upcoming events on his schedule include:

Monday, March 16

Daniels will join Janet Napolitano, president of the University of California, former Arizona governor and secretary of homeland security, in a special session of the American Council on Education annual meeting. Daniels and Napolitano will discuss "Path to the Presidency: The Transition from Government to Higher Education."

The session will take place at 10 a.m. at the Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Ave., NW. More information is available at http://www.aceannualmeeting.org.

Tuesday, March 17

Daniels will testify in person before the House Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Training on the topic "Strengthening America's Higher Education System." His written testimony will be entered into the Congressional Record.

Tuesday, March 17

Daniels will speak on "Higher Education Reform: Affordability, Accountability and Value," hosted by the Brown Center on Education Policy at the Brookings Institution. The session is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Saul Room/Zikha Lounge, 1775 Massachusetts Avenue, NW.

Wednesday, March 18

Daniels will take part in the presentation of the 2015 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, an award sponsored by The Aspen Institute in recognition of high achievement and performance in America's community colleges. Daniels was jury co-chair for the award with former Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.). The event is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
