Purdue Theatre's "Macbeth"

Toil and trouble. Life is a dark, scalding descent for Macbeth as his ambition, heated by Lady Macbeth, undoes him. In these weeks, Purdue Theatre is continuing its exploration of the shadowy edges of human nature. The arts at Purdue furnish the chance to explore humanity in many ways. Don't Miss It!

 

FEBRUARY 25

Angela Davis, longtime activist and scholar, will speak on social justice and building communities. 5 p.m. Elliott Hall of Music.

"Macbeth" exposes the raw edges of human ambition in a rare, chilling way that just requires using the term "the bard." Bundle up and see one of the best plays in existence. Evening shows and matinees through March 1. $. Details

FEBRUARY 26

Books and Coffee, in its 65th year, has long since settled comfortably into 4-5 p.m. Thursdays in February. It's almost as comfortable as an overstuffed chair, a pillow, an afghan and a good book, with a warm drink nearby. Today's is the last of four gatherings to share refreshments, conversation and a book commentary. Details

"Eyes on the Prize" documentary film episodes show and reflect on key aspects in the civil rights movement. Purdue's showings, tonight and March 5, will include discussion of these seminal events in a much-honored series. 7 p.m. Beering Hall, Room 2290. Details

Compagnie Käfig displays the vigorous and innovative world of Brazilian dance, bridging contemporary and street dance forms. 7:30 p.m. STEW, Loeb Playhouse. $. Details

FEBRUARY 28

Boilermaker Ball. The year's big bash by Purdue Alumni Association will be at Pete's Laundry (wink, wink). In Indianapolis. Details

TEDxPurdueU breakout: "The Financial Crisis of 2008." Film and panel will examine what went wrong and maybe, uh, didn't we know better? 6:30 p.m. STEW, Loeb Playhouse. Details

MARCH 4-8
