Center for Healthy Living to offer heart-healthy workshops for American Heart Month

February 6, 2015

February is American Heart Month, and the Center for Healthy Living is hosting workshops focused on the risks for heart disease and how to stay heart healthy.

"Heart disease can affect groups of people in different ways. This is why it is important to know the risk factors associated with the disease and how it can be prevented through lifestyle choices and regular wellness screenings," says Beth Taylor, CHL nurse practitioner.

The first offering is "Blood Pressure Management." As a complement to the blood pressure management workshop, the "DASH Diet" workshop will focus on nutrition to treat and prevent high blood pressure. In addition to these, a presentation on cholesterol management also will be offered to help participants learn what cholesterol is, where it comes from and what types of screenings are available.
